 1. Sailing Season and Scheduled Sailing Dates

The Sailing Season usually commences in April or May and ends late September or mid-October and is subject to completion of maintenance, safety checks and weather conditions. We publish a list of scheduled sailing dates at the start of the Sailing Season which is updated during the Sailing season.  You can select a scheduled sailing date from this list or purchase a Gift Voucher to be redeemed at a later date.  Where you have selected a scheduled sailing date we reserve the right to move your booking to a different date. We would give you as much notice as possible in this event.

  2. Sailing Duration and route (Special Trips are up to 4 hours in duration and will mainly be under the power of our diesel engine.)

Our Standard sailing trips are up to approximately six hours in duration and are subject to the tides, weather conditions and discretion of the Greta's Skipper on the day of sailing. As sailing depends on weather and wind conditions, some or even all of the boat trip may be under the power of a diesel engine.  The trip will depart from the South Quay in Whitstable Harbour and will be around part of the Thames Estuary.  The actual route will  depend on weather conditions and will be decided on the day by the Greta Skipper Steve Norris.  Our most popular trip is a visit to the World War II Army Forts, we regularly sail through the Kentish Flats Wind Farm, out to the Red Sands WWII Army Forts. Another trip may be towards Herne Bay Pier, Reculver Tower and back to Whitstable Harbour. If the wind is too strong to head out to the forts we may take a more sheltered and relaxing sail up the Swale towards King's Ferry Bridge. We often watch the seals and seal pups sunning themselves, or lazily playing in the shallow water.

3. Passengers to Confirm Scheduled Sailing Date (IMPORTANT)

Passengers must telephone Steve Norris (Greta's Skipper on 07711 657919 the day before sailing to check on weather conditions and confirm sailing times. Failure to do so may lead to disappointment should the trip have to be cancelled or moved to a different date.
